Chopard Expresses Its Passion for Movies through Jewelry

by admin

Jewelry and the film industry have shared a long history, dating back to the early days of silent movies. Both mediums exude glamour and a touch of fantasy, which is why their stories often intertwine. Jewelry has been used as a plot device to drive the action forward in many movie scripts. It has also played an integral role in costumes and on red carpets.

Among the various jewelry houses that have had connections to the world of film, few have embraced it with as much enthusiasm as Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele. Whenever the Oscars and Awards Season roll around, Caroline makes it a point to watch every movie in contention. She possesses a genuine passion for the medium and everything it entails.

Chopard has long demonstrated its love for cinema by being an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for the past 25 years. Aside from designing the prestigious Palme d’Or trophy, which is awarded to the festival’s highest achiever, Chopard also unveils new High Jewelry collections at the event.

To commemorate their milestone anniversary with the film festival, Caroline has created a collection inspired by movies. Some of the jewels in this collection capture the essence or pay subtle homage to various films, while others make their references abundantly clear in their designs.

Below are a couple of our favorite pieces from the Chopard Loves Cinema Red Carpet Collection.

Stay tuned for The Adventurine’s coverage of the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, which runs from today until May 28. We are certain that several more jewels from this collection of 75 pieces will make their debut on the red carpet.

The design of Chopard’s diamond chandelier earrings, as shown in the production image above, appears to be a clear tribute to Lumière in “Beauty and the Beast”.

The diamond necklace depicted above, featuring a flawless D-color diamond weighing 13.69 carats, pays homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 thriller “To Catch a Thief”. The movie revolves around a jewelry heist and stars Grace Kelly and Cary Grant.
